Workshop
Improv
What if our characters didn't know each-other...
In this workshop, we will challenge the familiar notion that characters in improv scenes should always share a pre-existing relationship.
Instead, we will explore the richness of scenes where characters meet as strangers, driven by distinct needs or wants from each other. By embracing encounters with those unknown, you’ll learn to create fulfilling scenes that broaden the scope and possibilities of your performances beyond relationship clichés. If our characters focus on why (or what) we need from each other in that present moment, we can create wonderfully fruitful and enjoyable scenes, even if we never blatantly define who we are.
This can also spark the audience’s imagination, as it pulls them further into the show by leaving room to draw their own conclusions.
This workshop is ideal for improvisers eager to expand their horizons and delve into a world of unique and unexpected scenarios.
