Workshop
Improv
What do you want? Go get it!
This workshop will explore the benefits of championing our character’s ‘wants’ within our scenes.
Instead of “making sure our characters know each other”, we’ll focus on what they want and need, and see how this can lead to engaging scenes, even amongst characters who are complete strangers.
We’ll also showcase how we can respond more naturally with how we feel, rather than inauthentically forcing opposition in our scene-work. Sometimes our characters might get what they want mid-scene — and that’s OK! We can then find new desires to play with from there.
We’ll learn how this approach can represent an easier path to showcasing dynamic relationships and playing three-dimensional characters, as opposed to rushing to label the “who/what/where” and sticking within rules that can lead us to predictable moves.
This will hopefully allow you to play in a more freeing manner, where you’ll be able to follow the fun instead of a rulebook!
