Clown
Be playful, creative and ridiculous.
We all have a clown hidden inside us and they can be called upon to shake us out of the everyday. Your clown can help you to return to a more embodied, joyful and creative self.
Join award-winning clown and physical theatre teacher Elizabeth Davie to explore your physicality, joy and inner clown. This workshop is NOT just for performers. The exercises, games and philosophy of clown are applicable in all areas of life. Laughter sounds the same in every language and we all learn first (and best) through play.
Q: What exactly do you mean by 'clown'?
A: The clown we will study is a kind of comedic performance that emphasises physicality, emotional vulnerability and connection, popularised by French theatre teacher Jacques Lecoq. As opposed to the sometimes nightmare-inducing pop culture notion of clowns. Rest assured there will be no juggling, squeaky horns or tiny cars in this workshop.
